# Create a YouTube API key

Last updated Sep 23rd, 2026

Common Room’s [YouTube integration](/content/docs/signals/community-and-social-integrations/youtube/index.html) requires a Google API key to import Contacts and activity. This article will walk you through creating an API key using the [Google Developer Console](https://console.developers.google.com/project).

Before you get started, make sure you're logged into your Google account and have opened the Google Developer Console. If you don't already have a Google account, you can create one for free.

## Setup

There are three main steps you need to take to create a YouTube API key, which are outlined below. Use the interactive demo to navigate each step.
